Why join us
A different way to work in general practice
We were set up in 2019 to keep general practice strong in North Cumbria. Today our six practices work as one team: local where it matters, at scale where it helps. For you, that means the freedom to focus on patients, with the shared support of a larger organisation behind you.
Salaried, without the risk
Every GP role is salaried. There is no buy-in and no personal financial liability, and you can still lead and shape how your practice works.
A team around you
You work alongside GPs, ACPs, nurses, paramedics, pharmacists, mental health practitioners and first contact physiotherapists, so patients see the right person and your time goes where it is needed.
Modern general practice
Total triage, shared systems and a strong focus on reducing administrative burden.
Forward thinking
New clinical and business models, built for the challenges of modern primary care.
Diverse practices
City, town, coastal and rural communities, each with different clinical needs.
Make a difference
Help develop and lead better care for communities that value people who commit to them.

GP roles
Photo needed: ACP with a patient
ACPs are central to how we deliver care, working autonomously alongside GPs across our practices. Many of our ACPs joined from hospital, urgent care and community settings, and we provide the training, supervision and support to make that move well.
ACP roles
Photo needed: practice nurse or healthcare assistant at work
We always want to hear from practice nurses, enhanced practitioners, nurse associates and healthcare assistants. Our nursing teams have clear career pathways, with training and apprenticeships to help you progress.

Structured induction
Every clinician has a planned induction and ongoing professional development.
A training organisation
All our practices are training practices. We teach GP registrars, foundation doctors and medical students, and we support GPs who want to become trainers.
Pears Cumbria School of Medicine
Cumbria’s first medical school opened in Carlisle in August 2025, a partnership between the University of Cumbria and Imperial College London. We are creating a training hub for its students at our Frizington surgery.
Routes into advanced practice
Nurses in our practices are training to become ACPs, with support for non-medical prescribing.
Time to lead
GP Lead roles carry dedicated time for clinical leadership, and colleagues are involved in redesigning how we work.

Life here
More than a job: a life with space in it
North Cumbria gives you something rare: meaningful clinical work, and a World Heritage landscape close enough to be part of an ordinary week. Lakes before clinic, sea air after work, fells at the weekend.
Cost of living
Your salary goes further here
Homes cost well under the national average, which for many clinicians means more space, a shorter commute, or both.
